Condition Report

ROLEX - a gentleman's Oyster Cosmograph Daytona chronograph bracelet watch. Circa 1971. Stainless steel case with tachymeter bezel. Reference 6265, serial 3731311. Signed manual wind calibre 727. Black "sigma" dial with baton hour markers, subsidiary recorder dials to three, six and nine. Fitted to a signed stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp. 37mm. Box, papers and service history. A classic Rolex 6265 Cosmograph in original condition is getting harder and harder to find. This example has had one owner from new and comes with some Rolex service history.

Purchasing information
  • Movement is currently functioning.
  • Movement appears to be in a generally good condition with signs of previous intervention when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Dial appears to be in a generally good condition with some light marks visible when viewed under a 4x loupe, more noticeably to the lighter sub dials.
  • Hands look to be in a generally good condition, the hour counter hand shows some marks to the surface and scratches to its colouring. Slight colour difference between subsidiary seconds dial hand and hour and minute counter hands.
  • Glass has light scratches and marks.
  • Case appears to be in good condition with minor scratches and marks. Some wear to the black infill of the markings of the bezel.
  • Crown screws down and is currently functioning correctly; the surface has light scratches when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Bracelet has light scratches and some signs of light stretching to links.
  • Clasp is currently functioning and shows light scratches and marks. Coronet is fading slightly due to refinishing.
  • Bracelet measures approximately 18cm including case.

    This lot comes with two spare links, an inner box with light general wear but without the inner padding, a service pouch and papers to consist of a guarantee certificate dated 23.06.76, but without the number filled in.

    We also have some service history for the piece, with three Rolex guarantees from 1984, 1997 and 2013. There is also a stack of receipts from 1984, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1997 and 2013. There are also some services marks in the inside of the case back.

    Due to opening of the case back we recommend this watch is re-sealed by an authorised technician to ensure any stated water resistance is retained.
