Condition Report

A late 19th century gold, enamel and gem-set brooch. The faceted rock crystal stylised heart locket, hinged to the reverse, within a polychorme enamel bow and laurel garland surround with dove, floral and diamond accents. Length 2.9cms. Weight 5gms.

  • Overall condition good to fair. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Cleaned to a high finish.
  • The gold to the locket mount is a different colour to that of the surround.
  • Clasp possible replacement/alteration to the fittings.
  • Diamonds moderately well matched.
  • Estimated total diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamonds to the bow surmount possible replacements, one appears abraded or with glue to surface, the larger with noticeable chips.
  • Enamel in very good condition.
