Condition Report

A late Georgian gold rock crystal doublet and diamond comet brooch, circa 1820. The rectangular-shape foil-back rock crystal doublet, with scrolling spacer, to the foil-back old-cut diamond terminal. Estimated diamond weight 0.45ct, I-J colour, SI clarity. Length 2.5cms. Weight 3.6gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Diamond is foil back.
  • Diamond has small, dark, scattered inclusions.
  • Diamond graded within the limitations of the mount.
  • Quartz doublet is foil back, the foil backing is a deep blue hue, slight deterioration. The glue to the middle of the quartz shows deterioration and is visible.

  • Quartz doublet is in fair to poor condition with some abrasion to the table facet and small chips to the edge of the stone.
