Condition Report

A gentleman's garnet signet ring. The circular-shape garnet, to the scrolling foliate engraved sides and replacement 22ct gold band. Hallmarks to the replacement band for Birmingham, 1889. Ring size O. Total weight 4.2gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Band slightly out of shape.

  • Band shows evidence of repair/ resize.

  • Garnet medium red, well saturated, with good clarity and no obvious inclusions.

  • Garnet in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.

  • Setting portion has a partial hallmark for 9ct gold.
