Condition Report

A Georgian silver and gold amethyst and diamond cluster ring. The cushion-shape amethyst and old-cut diamond cluster, to the scrolling sides and replacement band. Estimated total diamond weight 0.15ct. Personal engraving to inner band reads Cath' Crace, the gift of Clarissa Dibblee Sept 1847, to whom it was given by her father John Crace 19 Aug 1795. Ring size L. Weight 2.6gms.

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Band is a replacement.
  • Scroll engraved sides has worn away a little.
  • Diamond fairly well matched.
  • Diamonds fairly bright.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Amethysts medium dark purple moderate to poor saturation. One stone is cracked. Possible replacements.

  • Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
