Condition Report

A mid Victorian silver, gold, ruby and diamond pendant, circa 1870. The pear-shape ruby and old-cut diamond cluster, within a similarly-cut diamond heart-shape halo, suspended from an old-cut diamond stylised fleur-de-lys surmount. Estimated total diamond weight 2cts. Length 3.2cms. Weight 4.7gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches and general slight discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Surmount loop is hinged, hinge is stiff or non-functioning. Surmount possible replacement.
  • Diamonds fairly bright and well matched.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Ruby is a medium pinky red hue, with fair clarity and typical inclusions including crystal inclusions and oriented silk needles, small crystal cavity to the reverse.

  • All the colour in the ruby is towards the culet.
  • Ruby with moderate facet-edge abrasion.
