Condition Report

A late Victorian gold split pearl brooch, circa 1880. Of floral design, the cultured pearl, within a split pearl border and split pearl petal surround. AF. Diameter 3.6cms. Weight 16gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Areas of discolouration and dirt to the reverse of the brooch.
  • The back catch fitting is deficient and the back metal pin appears to be a replacement.
  • Dents and scratches to the back pin.
  • The cultured pearls are fairly well matched, blisters, blemishes and damage to the nacre of some.
  • Some possible replacement split pearls.
