Condition Report

A Russian pre-revolutionary gold, diamond, baroque and seed pearl brooch. The baroque pearl, within a vari-cut diamond foliate and vari-hue seed pearl textured wreath. Marks dated 1871, partially obscured. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.25ct. Length 4.8cms. Total weight 16.1gms. Pearls untested.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.

  • Pin with marks including 1871 stamp, 56 and WE, possible further marks to the brooch, poorly struck, obscured.

  • Diamonds vary in shape size and appearance.

  • Diamonds bright to fairly bright.

  • Light and dark coloured inclusions can be seen to many diamonds very easily under magnification.

  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • The baroque pearl is hollow, the top is open, the interior reveals dark staining.
  • Baroque pearl varies in colour with white, off-white and dark greyish to brownish purples. Some green and pink overtones and fairly good lustre in places, some areas show more muted lustre.

  • Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.
