Condition Report

A gem-set and enamel dragonfly brooch. The cultured pearl and opal cabochon body with green guilloche enamel and ruby eye highlights, to the plique-a-jour and single-cut diamond wings and plain limbs. Estimated total diamond weight 0.15ct. Length 8.1cms. Weight 14.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Brooch and central bar believed early 20th century.
  • Diamonds fairly bright and well matched.
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Varied inclusions, some surface reaching.
  • The opal has a cloudy off-white body colour with fair to good play of colour across a range of hues.
  • Rubies are a dark, slightly purplish red hue, heavily included.
  • Cultured pearl is long, baroque shape, with good luster.
