A good Chinese blue and yellow enamelled dragon porcelain bowl. Of slightly flared circular form on double ring-decorated foot, the interior decorated with a yellow five-clawed dragon chasing the flaming pearl, the exterior with two further dragons on an unusual 'cloudy' midnight blue ground, underglaze blue six-character mark of Kangxi within further double ring to base, with three additional old paper labels; 'Cie', 'Blue' and 'M. H. SOAMES COLLECTION', 5.5" diameter x 2.5" high, (14cm x 6.5cm). The 'Catalogue of the well-known collection of Chinese Ceramics, The Property of the late Major M. H. Soames, Breach, Little Berkhampstead, Herts', was offered by Sotheby's in two dispersals on 29th June 1954 and July 26th, 1954 respectively.
