Copeland Family Provenance: Five 19th century hand-painted porcelain landscape plates. Comprising: three Spode, of matching six-lobed design each with gadrooned gilt rim and foliate scrollwork border, framing views respectively named verso as: 'Ely Cathedral Cambridge', 'Village of Ragland, Monmouthshire', and 'Pains Hill, Cobham, Surry' [sic], each inscribed 'Spode', 9", 23cm) diameter; a fourth Spode, of similar form with mazarin blue border framing view of 'St. Sepulchre's Church Northampton', Ex Bill Coles Collection No. 18, and a Copeland & Garrett multi-lobed dish with view entitled 'Chillon Castle' recto, green printed mark, orange painted number 7547, and handwritten label 'Victoria shape dessert. All five have minor rubbing to gilt (fourth has gilding losses to inner border); fifth has rubbing to ribs, plus small over-glazed potting flaw to foot rim.
