Condition Report

A diamond star brooch. The old-cut diamond, with vari-cut diamond ray surround. Principal diamond estimated weight 0.85ct, J-K colour, VS2-SI1 clarity. Length 3.2cms. Total weight 5.6gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Comprising some Antique components, possibly adapted from a larger item of jewellery.
  • Some diamond replacements.
  • Evidence of repair work and damage to setting.
  • Principal diamond estimated within setting restrictions, diameter approximately 5.8mms, unable to attain accurate depth measurement.
  • Diamond is drawing a slight yellow hue, internal clarity good, with slight abrasion to some facet edges.
  • Individual size and setting of smaller diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Some are chipped.
  • Cut and setting of outer diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation.
  • Clasp is a later addition.
