Condition Report

A late Victorian gold turquoise brooch. Comprising twin scrolling foliate engraved snakes, with garnet eyes and turquoise cabochon highlights, suspending trace-link swags and a turquoise and scrolling heart locket with turquoise forget-me-not spacer. AF. Length 8.1cms. Weight 12.7gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and small dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Two blue glass replacements to the snakes.
  • Probable replacement gems, turquoise to the heart is ill-fitting to the mount, with dents visible to the mount.
  • Turquoise deficient from the floral spacer.
  • General moderate discolouration.
  • Small file scratch and slight acid discolouration to the reverse of one of the tail tips.
  • Turquoise are a fairly well matched light to medium blue hue. Slight matrix visible.
  • Glue visible to some mounts.
  • Length of snake panel 3.6cms.
