Condition Report

A mid 20th century platinum, ruby and diamond cluster ring. The oval-shape ruby, with circular-cut diamond surround. Estimated total diamond weight 0.80ct. Approximate ring size M1/2. Weight 5.2gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Later ring sizing aids to the inside of the band, restrict accurate assessment of ring size.
  • Diamonds fairly bright and well matched.
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • One diamond with chip/natural at girdle. Generally few, small, scattered inclusions.
  • Ruby is a medium pinky red hue.
  • Natural cavities to the pavillion facets.
  • Estimated dimensions of ruby 6.8 by 5 by 2.9mms.
  • Length of ring head 1.5cms.
  • Stamped plat, the p worn away.
  • Personal engraving, partially covered by one of the sizing aids 'J.T. to M[covered]3-12-41'.
