Condition Report
An 18th century bloodstone chatelaine with etui and watch. The gold Rococo mounted bloodstone panel chatelaine, with dolphins, putti and floral motifs, suspending a similarly-set contemporary pocket watch, hinged egg pendant and etui with diamond button and writing implements, the chatelaine also suspending similarly dated silver gilt thimble in gold filigree case and black gem and coral charms. Watch movement signed R. Oliver, London. Length of chatelaine hinged panel 7.8cms. Total weight 275.8gms.

Purchasing information- Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
- Chatelaine principal panel with slight losses to gold overlay. Reverse shows wear to the gilt finish of base metal clip.
- Etui with natural straight indent to one section and a fine crack to another. Crack and minor nicks to the base panel.
- Items contained within the etui include a pair of scissors, pen, folding blade, ivory tool and combination ear wax cleaner and needle or metal pointer. All appear original.
- Small hole indicates probable further item, now deficient.
- Scenes to the gold overlay include dolphins, floral swags, masks, shells, a crane, a female sphinx, cupid and lovebirds.
- Ovoid case with bloodstones slightly loose, may require attention.
- Connecting chains with small dents.
- Thimble case with shallow dents. Thimble with wear to the gilt and black discolouration.
- Bloodstone is a deep green with fine flecks of jasper.
- Coral untested for natural colour origin.
- Coral is a slightly mottled orangey pink hue.
- Coral charms include a sitting dog, a fish, a gentleman with a tall curved hat, a pitcher, two shoes and a fist. Fist with tip of little finger and most of index finger deficient. Pitcher with small chip.

- Watch with two possible replacement panels. One bloodstone panel cracked.
- Dial with chips and fine cracks.
- Possibly mid 18th century.
- Signed full plate fusee and chain movement, verge escapement and pierced balance cock.
