Condition Report

A mid Victorian gold gem-set necklace. The foil-back topaz, split pearl and turquoise foliate engraved drop, with similarly-designed sides and surmount, suspended from alternate turquoise and split pearl floral engraved links and replacement snake and gloved hand clasp. Length 40.5cms. Weight 40.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good to fair. Few surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Some replacement components.
  • Some replacement gems.
  • Wear and small tears to some mounts.
  • Topaz believed recently re-foiled.
  • Reverse with glazed panel.
  • Turquoise are a medium blue to medium moderately greenish blue.
  • Split pearls are a fairly wellmatyched slightly greyish pearly hue. Some with moderate wear.
  • Foil back gems appear a slightly mottled medium pink hue. Some slight deterioration to the foil backing.
