An early 20th century silver gilt buckle.

Condition Report

An early 20th century silver gilt buckle. Of square outline, with applied crossed nautical flags, one pale blue and white, the other red and blue, a ships wheel between them, to the ribbon below for 'S.Y.Thalassa' and rope-twist detail to the surround. Length 7cms. Weight 72.4gms. The S.Y.Thalassa was built by New York philanthropist, Eugene Higgins in 1924.

Purchasing information
    The condition of this lot is good to fair. Some of the black enamel to the fine lettering reading 'S.Y. Thalassa' is worn away. There is some dark discolouration to the rope-twist detail to the edges. The buckle is in an associated box, which is frayed at the joining seam and has slight wear.
