Condition Report

A mid Victorian gold ruby and split pearl suite. The stylised shield-shape brooch with ruby and split pearl crescent highlight and snake-link fringe, together with matching earrings. Length of brooch 7.8cms. Length of earrings 7cms. Weight 26.8cms. With case.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good to fair. Some surface scratches/wear and discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Brooch with glazed panel reverse.
  • Split pearls are a creamy white to greyish colour, with rose and greenish overtones.
  • Split pearls in good condition with minor abrasions.
  • Rubies are a well matched slightly purplish red hue, well saturated, with a fairly dark tone, good to fair clarity and typical inclusions.

  • Rubies in good to fair condition with some abrasions. One earring ruby with small chip to table.

  • Earrings with hook fittings for pierced ears.
  • Width of brooch 4.2cms.
  • Case with damage and wear, does not close.
