Condition Report

An early Victorian pearl and seed pearl necklace. Designed as a series of graduated pearl and seed pearl floral cluster, suspending a seed pearl fringe and swags, with later graduated pearl back-chain. Length 42.5cms. Pearls untested.

  • Overall condition fair to good, in keeping with general age and wear.
  • The front section has been adapted from a larger item of jewellery, with a slightly later string of graduated pearls, pearls untested for origin.
  • Clasp is a modern replacement.
  • Re-threading possibly recommended to some areas, some strings appear loose, overall piece is delicate.
  • Pearls in good to fair condition with typical surface blemishes and minor to moderate nacre damage to some.
  • Some pearls possibly replacements.
  • Threaded to a mother-of-pearl base.
  • Stamped 750 to replacement clasp.
