A diamond, ruby and opal pendant.

Condition Report

A diamond, ruby and opal pendant. Designed as a Maltese cross, the oval opal cabochon and rose-cut diamond cluster, with ruby, opal and old-cut diamond openwork surround, suspended from a similarly-set cluster surmount. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 0.50ct. Length 7.5cms. Weight 25.6cms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/wear and small dents, slight discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Some gem replacements.
  • Signs of repair and alterations.
  • Surmount shows several evidence of repair. Soft solder can be seen.
  • Slight to moderate small dents to the back of three opal mounts.
  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight, colour or clarity estimation.
  • Two old-cut diamonds with a noticeable yellow tint.
  • Diamonds have mostly small, few, scattered inclusions. One chipped.
  • Opals are a well matched, translucent with good play of colour, ranging from red to green.
  • Opals in good condition with some abrasion and small nicks.
  • Rubies vary, most appear purplish red hue, variation in tone, saturation and level of inclusions.
  • Rubies in good condition with some abrasion and minor nicks.
  • Estimated dimensions of each opal approximately 11 by 8mms. Unable to assess depth due to setting.
  • Width (at widest) 56mms.
