An opal and diamond pendant.

Condition Report

An opal and diamond pendant. The heart-shape opal cabochon, suspended from an oval opal cabochon within a rose-cut diamond wreath, to the belcher-link chain. Length of pendant 4.2cms. Length of chain 41cms. Weight 10.9gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Heart-shape opal possibly a later addition.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Diamonds fairly bright.

  • Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Opals fairly well matched, with a white body colour and strong play of colour across a range of hues, oval opal with a streak to one side displaying no play of colour.

  • Opals in good condition with minor abrasions.

  • Estimated dimensions of oval-shape opal 11 by 9mms. Estimated dimensions of heart-shape opal 9 by 9mms.
  • Metal electronically tests as platinum, with exception of the heart-shape opal setting which tests as silver.
  • Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
  • Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
