Condition Report

A late Victorian silver and gold, diamond and cultured pearl sword hilt brooch. The rose-cut diamond grip and scrolling cross guard, with cultured pearl accents, to the similarly-cut diamond highlight and imitation pearl pommel. Length 4cms. Weight 6.4gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Possible replacement gems.
  • Replacement clasp.
  • Sword blade likely previously attached, now deficient.
  • Diamonds well matched.
  • Diamonds bright.

  • Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation and colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamonds with some small dark and feather inclusions under 10x magnification, some surface reaching.
  • Some diamonds with small chips.
  • Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these cultured pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
  • Cultured pearls are a creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones.
  • Cultured pearls in good condition with minor abrasions.
