Condition Report

An early 20th century 18ct gold diamond and split pearl brooch. The old-cut diamond and split pearl cluster, to the split pearl curved bar sides and heart terminals. Length 4.8cms. Weight 5.1gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • One split pearl deficient.
  • Replacement clasp.
  • Pin stamped 9ct, pin dented.
  • Estimated diamond weight under 0.10ct.

  • Size and setting of diamond prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.

  • Diamond chipped to girdle.
  • Split pearls fairly well matched, some variation in colour and wear.
  • Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
