Condition Report

A late 19th century gold shell cameo brooch. Of oval outline, carved to depict the goddesses Day and Night, to the split pearl foliate highlight surround. Length 6cms. Weight 20gms.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition fair to good. Surface scratches/ wear and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Signs of repair to surround, soft solder and pitting marks visible.
  • Section with split pearl at the top of the surround appears slightly loose, may require attention.
  • Recently cleaned to a high finish.
  • Shell cameo in good condition with minor abrasions.
  • Split pearls are creamy white to greyish colour with rose and greenish overtones.
  • Split pearls in good condition.
