A Louis XV gold, diamond and mother-of-pearl calendar, dated 1774. Given by Louis Dauphin and Marie-Antoinette Dauphine. A Louis XV gold, diamond and mother-of-pearl calendar, dated 1774. Each side depicting Louis Dauphin and Marie-Antoinette Dauphine within a rose-cut diamond radial surround, to the rectangular mother-of-pearl and rose-cut diamond floral panel with spiral-engraved borders. With a paper calendar, each month with engravings depicting various members of the nobility. Length 7.5cms. Weight 56.8gms. With original gilt red Moroccan leather case formed as a book.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • One diamond deficient.
  • Diamonds bright and well matched.
  • Cut and setting of diamonds prevents accurate weight, colour and clarity assessment.

  • Paper of inside front cover shows fading to the red colour, slight tear toward the hinge.
  • Outer case shows damage to two corners and expected wear. Gilt motif shows two birds atop a plinth inscribed 'JAMAIS ASSES', with dogs and a snake in a tree.
