Condition Report

ROLEX - a gentleman's Oyster Perpetual Explorer bracelet watch. Circa 1970. Stainless steel case. Reference 1016, serial 2562389. Signed automatic calibre 1570. Black dial with luminous baton hour markers, luminous Arabic numeral three, six and nine. Fitted to a signed stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp. 36mm. Box.

  • Movement is currently functioning.
  • Movement has scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with general wear visible when viewed under a 4x loupe.
  • Dial appears to show light marks. Luminous batons and inserts show discolouration.
  • Hands show marks and tarnishing when viewed under a x4 loupe. Hands appear to be later replacements.
  • Glass has scratches and marks.
  • Case shows scratches, marks and dints.
  • Crown screws down and has light scratches and marking.
  • Bracelet has scratches, marks and stretching to the links. Bracelet is a later replacement.
  • Clasp is currently functioning and shows visible scratches and marks. Clasp is a later replacement and has a date code of P.

  • Bracelet measures approximately 16.5cm including case.

    This lot comes comes with a box which has marks and scuffs to the exterior. Inner box has marks. Lot also includes a Fliplock clasp. Lot also includes the original bill of sale dated 3rd December 1971 with chronometer certificate and Rolex service guarantees dated 23.2.76, 20.4.78, 24.4.80, 21.5.82 and 4.5.99.
