A Victorian silver seven bar toast rack.

Condition Report

A Victorian silver toast rack, of oblong form with seven slightly graduating looped bars and a central scrolled handle with beaded detail, raised on an openwork stretcher base with scalloped edge having a conforming bead border enclosing pierced decoration, and the whole raised on four scroll feet. Hallmarked London 1879 with maker's mark JB. Maximum length 7.75" (19.5cm), weight 9.49 ozt (295 grams).

Purchasing information
    Displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A few breaks and splits in the pierced decoration with a couple of minor losses. Some repairs at joins of bars to main frame. Further evidence of repair to one foot, solder lines visible to the underside and areas of pitting in the decoration. Stretcher slightly curved in the centre. Hallmarks located to central stretcher bar only, these are clear and legible with light rubbing. Maker's mark JB and possible attribution to Henry Wilkinson & Co (John Brashier). With incised numbers verso 7317 alongside various scratched numbers.
