A late Georgian gold carnelian intaglio of Hebe feeding Zeus as an eagle, by William Brown.

Length 2.9cms. 7gms.
This is very similar to engraving No. 1307 from the Tassie collection.

Purchasing information

  • Carnelian has general slight surface scratches, minimal frits. General dirt/wax in some of the engraved details.
  • Engraved name W BROWN INV'T.
  • Estimated dimensions of agate 22 by 16.4mms.
  • Mount has surface scratches, small marks, discolouration and varied wear to the gilt finish. Small split to one of the shallower sides of the carnelian mount.
  • Discolouration at repair to the surmount loop.
  • Electronically tests approximately between 12 to 14ct gold.
  • Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
  • Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
