Lot Description

George IV, silver mounted wooden cruet base, embossed with scroll and floral decoration including a cartouche to either side, one with an engraved stylised initial, finished by a gadrooned rim and raised on four foliate capped claw feet. Hallmarked Edward Farrell, London 1825. Length measures 8 inches (20 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The silver displays wear commensurate with the age and use with general scratches, marks and tarnishing. The seam on the body has become visible. Some rubbing to the detail on the embossing. Central circular white metal panel covering where a loop handle would fit. Personal initial engraving to one cartouche. The wooden base to the inside also appears to have been recently stripped. The hallmarks a little rubbed but clearly legible.
