A 9ct gold early to mid-twentieth century matched set comprising a cigarette case and a match case, each of rectangular outline with rounded corners and engine turned decoration throughout. Both in a fitted Mappin & Webb case. Cigarette case measures 8.6 cm by 7.4 cm, match case measures 6.4 cm by 4.7 cm, combined gross weight 122.2 grams.

Fair to good condition overall, both items displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and light tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.  Slightly heavier wear around edges and to corners.  Some rubbing to surface detail to some areas but the decoration is still good.  Some very slight surface dints to match case.  The interior of cigarette case is still bright but the interior of match case is dull in appearance.  Hinges and clasp appear in good working order.  The hallmarks are mainly clear and legible, rubbing to marks on cigarette case but still legible.  It is incised 'Mappin & Webb, Oxford St, W', but this appears quite crude.
