Lot Description

An early Victorian silver snuff box by Nathanial Mills, the oblong form with banded engine-turned decoration, scalloped edge, later central inscription and opening to a silver-gilt interior, hallmarked Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1850, length measuring 6.7 cm. Together with a late Victorian silver vesta case of plain oblong form, hallmarked Birmingham 1895, height measuring 5.7 cm. Gross weight 93 grams. (2).

Both display general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. The snuff box with more wear with rubbing and loss of definition to the decoration, the hinge also very stiff and rising slightly when closed. A few minor dents to the vesta case. No personal engravings to the vesta case. Hallmarks are clear and legible.
