Lot Description
An early Victorian silver snuff box, the rectangular form with reeded sides, engine-turned decoration, initialled shield cartouche, and opening to a gilded interior, hallmarked Francis Clark, Birmingham 1841, length measuring 5.5 cm. Together with a modern silver pyx box of typical form, hallmarked Vanpoulles Ltd., London 1980, maximum diameter measuring 4.8 cm. Gross weight 56.8 grams. (2).

Condition Report
The snuff box appears in fairly poor condition with some heavy surface wear, marks and scratches. Loss of detail to areas of the decoration. Solder repairs visible around seam lines of the lid and there is a crack along a seam line of the base. Hinges appear in working order. Hallmarks rubbed and maker's marks partly distorted. Overall condition of the pyx box is good, displaying some general surface marks and scratches and a couple of very minor dints. Some heavier contact marks around the base. Hallmarks clear and legible.
