Lot Description

A turn of the century Dutch silver table tobacco box commemorating the Battle of Dogger Bank, 1781, the oblong scalloped form with hinged cover depicting the naval scene, eight flags engraved to the underside listing the Captains of the Dutch fleet. Dutch assay marks for 1903, possible maker's mark C.B. Length measuring 6 inches (15 cm), weight 7 ozt (219 grams).

In good overall condition displaying general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some further spots of discolouration. Hinge in good working order. Probable solder repair to the inside. Dutch assay marks somewhat worn.
