Lot Description

An early Victorian silver table snuff box, the rectangular form with raised and moulded rim enclosing engine-turned diagonal check pattern throughout and large vacant name panel to hinged lid. Hallmarked Francis Clark, Birmingham 1840. Measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) by 2 3/8 inches (6 cm), weight 5.54 ozt (172.3 grams).

The snuff box appears in good overall condition, displaying some light tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches. Small floods of solder visible to one corner and along the top edge of the vacant panel. Hinges appear in good working order. Interior likely once gilded but this is now faded. Hallmarks are clear and legible with some light rubbing.
