Lot Description

A pair of Victorian silver fish servers, engraved with foliate and shell motifs and having later replacement faux ivory handles, hallmarked Yapp & Woodward, Birmingham 1851. Together with a Victorian silver set of six teaspoons and matching sugar tongs with decorative pierced stems, hallmarked John, Edward, Walter & John Barnard (Barnard & Sons Ltd), London 1874, a mid-twentieth century silver handled cheese knife, a bottle opener marked Cohr Denmark, and a magnifying glass. Weight of teaspoons and sugar tongs 3.76 ozt (117 grams).

Varying condition, all the pieces display some tarnishing, surface wear, marks and scratches. Some heavier wear around the edge and tip of the fish blade and to the tips of the fork tines, which are slightly uneven in length. The teaspoon bowls have generally faired quite well but there is a repair to the stem of the sugar tongs. The blade of the cheese knife is turned upwards and there is some quite heavy tarnish to the handle. The glass of the magnifying glass is coming out of the mount on one side. The bottle opener is also marked 'HH?90' and impressed Holland.
