Lot Description
A 1920's silver mounted clear glass claret jug, the fluted ovoid shape body with plain silver cylindrical mount to neck having a flat hinged lid and rounded angular handle. Hallmarked John Grinsell & Sons, Birmingham 1925. Height measuring 7 1/2 inches (19 cm).

Condition Report
The claret jug appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying expected surface wear, marks and scratches from handling and use. Some tarnishing to silver. A couple of minor dints around the top of the neck. The hinged lid appears in good working order and sits flush. Visible seam line to handle. Some minor edge nibbles to glass body. Hallmarks clear and legible with some light rubbing. Lid reverse struck with lion passant and date letter, these are more heavily rubbed but still legible. Also with impressed numbers just above hinge.
