Lot Description

A Dutch silver cream jug, of compressed lobed form with applied scroll motifs, beneath a wide inverted lobed rim, leading to a shaped handle and raised upon a oblong footed base. Marked with the lion rampant mark, single sword mark and date letter for 1852 alongside further Dutch assay marks. Height inclusive of handle measures 4 inches (10.2 cm), weight 8.3 ozt (259.7 grams).

In fair condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Would benefit from a clean and polish. Minor dents and bumps to the lobed corners, Signs of repair to the interior with soldered support pieces to the corners. Marked with the lion rampant mark, single sword mark and date letter for 1852 alongside further Dutch assay marks including a possible maker's mark beneath the base. Majority of marks legible.
