Lot Description
An early Victorian silver 'castle top' snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, the rounded rectangular form with engine turned sides and base and the hinged lid decorated in relief with a view of Windsor Castle, with scroll thumb-piece and opening to a silver-gilt interior. Hallmarked Birmingham 1838 (William IV Duty mark). Length measuring 6.2 cm, weight 43.9 grams.

Condition Report
Displaying some expected surface wear, scratches and marks. Also a little tarnishing. Some heavier wear around edges and corners. Small split in the metal to a front corner of the lid. Further possible small repairs at a couple of other corners. Some rubbing and loss of surface detail to areas of the raised decoration. Areas of heavier scratches to engine turned base. Hinges appear in good working order and it closes well only rising very slightly. Hallmarks a little rubbed but still clearly legible.
