Full Lot Description

An early Victorian silver snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, of rectangular form with engine-turned decoration all over, the hinged lid with vacant scrolled cartouche. Hallmarked Birmingham 1838 with William IV Duty mark. Length 2.75" (7cm), gross weight 1.42 ozt (44 grams).

<li>Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with age and use.

<li>Some slightly heavier wear around edges and corners including some minor nicks and dints, and a couple of cracks in the front corners of the lid.

<li>Surface wear and rubbing to the engine-turned decoration, with slight loss of detail to some areas.

<li>Hinges appear in good working order and lid closes securely; however it does rise up again very slightly when closed.

<li>Gilt interior with some surface wear, stained marks, a sticker mark and other residues around inside edge.

<li>Hallmarks located to interior base and reverse of lid; these all clear and legible with minor rubbing. William IV Duty mark still present.
