An early Victorian silver snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, the rounded rectangular form with raised borders enclosing engine-turned decoration, the hinged lid with presentation engraved shield cartouche and foliate chased thumb-piece. Hallmarked Birmingham 1840. Length 2.75" (7cm), gross weight 2.45 ozt (76 grams).

<li>Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with age and use.
<li>Some minor surface nicks and dints.
<li>Some heavier wear around edges and especially the corners.
<li>Surface wear and rubbing to the engine-turned decoration, with loss of detail to some areas.
<li>The presentation engraving is also rubbed and difficult to read clearly, although it is dated 1841.
<li>Hinges appear in good working order and lid closes securely with slight overhang in places.
<li>Gilt interior with some surface wear, tarnishing and stained marks, and other residues around inside edge.
<li>Hallmarks located to interior base and reverse of lid; these with some rubbing but all clear and legible.
