An William IV silver masonic interest presentation snuff box, of rectangular form with foliate edges and engine-turned decoration throughout, the hinged lid with raised floral chased border enclosing engraved masonic symbols and the inscription, 'Presented to Bro. John Spencer, Adbolton, Notts. by the Brethren of the Newstead Lodge of Free Masons. No. 55 as a token of the high estimation in which he is held as a Man and a Mason'. Hallmarks partly distorted, Birmingham, probably 1836, maker's mark possibly 'WP'. Measuring 9.5cm by 6cm, weight 7.33ozt (228g).
