Full Lot Description
A William IV silver tea service, comprising teapot, coffee or hot water pot, twin-handled sugar bowl and a cream/milk jug, each with fluted bulbous body decorated with a band of trailing flowers and leaves, and crest engraved scrolled cartouches, with foliate capped scroll handles and spouts and each raised on a spread foot, the tea and coffee pots further embellished with flower finials to the hinged lids. Hallmarked Edward Barton, London 1833. Maximum height of coffee pot 24.5cm, length across teapot 29cm, total gross weight 81.51ozt (2535.3g).

Condition Report

- All pieces displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use
- Some minor surface dints and bumps
- A few heavier dints and bruises visible to the cartouches
- With some blackening and residues of dried polish to some areas and crevices
- Heavier staining to the interiors, particularly of the coffee and teapots
- Interior of sugar and cream likely gilded but now a little faded
- Hinged lids of tea and coffee pots appear in good working order and close flush; teapot lid with slight movement
- Handle section of coffee pot is a little loose and there is some damage and losses to the ivory insulators; wobbles very slightly on its foot
- Damage to flower finial of teapot, part of a leaf is missing
- Foot of sugar bowl and cream jug are slightly compressed and both have a slight wobble
- Hallmarks located to each base, with part marks to handles and lids; all legible
