A George III silver sugar or sweetmeat basket by Hester Bateman, of circular pedestal form with swing handle, decorated with beaded borders enclosing pierced and engraved bands and monogrammed cartouche. Hallmarked London 1783. Height to rim 10.8cm, weight 3.72ozt (116g).

Condition Report
- Missing glass liner
- Displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with the age and use
- General tarnishing all over with blackening to some areas and crevices, and heavier staining to the interior and base
- Some residues of dried polish
- Swing handle appears a little misshapen but does self-support; some solder visible at joins suggesting possible repairs?
- Wobbles very slightly on its foot
- Hallmarks rubbed in parts but still legible
