Engraved with the crest and motto (Non Vi Sed Virtute) of the Elphinstone family and initials JE.
Likely for John Elphinstone (1771-1835), Lord of Selmys and Glack, a former member of the Council of Bombay, he married Maria Prudence in India, 1799.
