A gem-set sentimental locket. The oval-shape chalcedony panel, with red gem foliate motif inset, to the 15ct gold rope-twist link surround and glazed reverse, suspended from an early 20th century 9ct gold chain. Length of locket 5.1cms. Length of chain 54cms. Total weight 19.6gms.

Purchasing information-
The lot is in good to fair overall condition with scratches in keeping with general wear. The locket is thought to be composed of old and modern components. Chain with replacement clasp. Stamped near clasp, stamp rubbed, believed to state RG. Length of locket includes surmount loop. Length of chalcedony panel 3.1cms. Please see important notices for purchasers in the catalogue and on our website for Coloured Gemstones. Red gems setting and size prevents accurate assessment. Three red gems with surface reaching fissures, two with associated chips. Red gems foil back, deterioration to foil. Glazed reverse with note which reads "For May [illegible] from, her beloved Mother, [illegible]" Sadly the two script names are partially covered and generally illegible. Remains of previous fittings to top and bottom of mount. Wear to mount with small splits and dents.
