Lot 122

A late Victorian silver lighthouse caster.

Description

Condition Report

A late Victorian silver lighthouse caster, ornately embossed throughout with foliate scroll and floral motifs, the cover with bayonet lock fitting. Hallmarked William Harrison Walter, Chester 1895. Height including finial measures 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), weight 2.51 ozt (78 grams).

Please note: When placing absentee bids, your bids will be rounded up to the nearest bid increment. For more information click the 'Important Notices for Purchasers' button above.

Purchasing information
The caster displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Some quite heavy tarnishing is visible and it would benefit from a clean and polish. Some small dints, especially around the flange. Slight flattening and loss of surface detail to decoration and a couple of tiny holes starting to appear in the lid, but it is generally still good. The cover appears to fit well, although the bayonet fitting is a little worn so that it no longer locks in position. The hallmarks are clear and legible, part hallmarks to cover.
