A George II silver caster.

Description

Condition Report

A George II silver caster of baluster form, with moulded detail, engraved crest to one side and monogrammed to the other, simple hole piercing to the removable cover within engraved diamond panels. Hallmarked Samuel Wood, London 1757. Height including finial measures 6 5/8 inches (16.8 cm), weight 6.04 ozt (187.8 grams).

Purchasing information
    The caster appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear including surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A couple of dints or knocks, most notably to the flange of the lid and a couple of small knocks to the foot rim. The hallmarks, located to the underside, are clear and legible. The lid appears unmarked but is a good fit.
