Condition Report

An early 20th century 15ct gold and platinum gem-set spider brooch. The spider, with baroque pearl and rose-cut diamond body, emerald eyes and textured legs, atop a platinum-fronted bar. Length 7.1cms. Weight 6.3gms. With case.

Purchasing information
  • Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Localised scratches and discolouration to the bar which is slightly bent inwards at spider, possibly by design.
  • Pearl untested.
  • The emeralds are a medium green hue, well saturated, one has a chip to the table the other has light surface scratches and nibbles to the facet edges.
  • The diamond is drawing a slight yellow hue.
  • The pearl has a cream hue with good lustre.
  • Stamped 15ct and Plat'm.
