Condition Report

An Edwardian 9ct gold diamond and gem-set crescent brooch. The graduated blister pearl line, with circular-shape demantoid garnet and single-cut diamond spacers. Estimated total diamond weight 0.15ct. Length 6.8cms. Weight 8.4gms.

Purchasing information

  • Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear and slight discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.


  • Safety chain probably later, marked to safety chain with maker's mark for Murrle Bennett & Co.

  • Possible replacement gems.

  • Diamonds well matched.


  • Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.


  • Demantoid garnets are a fairly well matched moderately vibrant yellowy green hue, few with small nicks and chips.

  • Blister pearls are fairly well matched slightly yellowy cream hue, few slightly more yellow discoloured, with uneven surface, fair to good luster.

  • Slight wear to some blister pearl surfaces.

  • Stamped 9ct to reverse, engraved '1431'.
