An early 20th century gold Burma ruby, ruby and diamond brooch. The alternate marquise-shape Burma ruby and diamond line, with calibre-cut ruby and old-cut diamond alternating surrounds and vari-cut diamond spacers. With report 5776-3444, dated 28th October 2015, from GCS, stating the marquise-shape rubies are Burmese origin, no heat, total weight 1.40cts. Length 6.9cms. Weight 8.7gms.

Purchasing information- Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

- Smaller rubies vary slightly in appearance, with different shapes and sizes.
- Some smaller rubies may be replacement.
- Smaller rubies dark to medium pinkish or slightly purplish-red, well saturated, with good to fair clarity and typical inclusions.
- Size and setting of smaller rubies and red stones prevents conclusive identification some possibly synthetic or paste replacment.
- Marquise-shape and smaller diamond well matched respectively.
- Diamonds bright to fairly bright.
- Marquise-shape diamonds estimated total diamond weight 1.20cts, I-J colour, Si-P12 clarity.
- One marquise-shape diamond is chipped.
- Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
